Every streaming platform licenses content based on projected return on investment. Will it generate enough watch time? Is there data to support the cost? Does it fit a category that already has a proven audience? If the answer is no, then the film doesn't get a platform.
Popset is built on a different question. Not: will this make money? But: does the community want to watch it? Because we're not-for-profit, we don't need a specific film to generate a commercial return. We just need people who want to watch it.
Oh also, when your film is licensed onto Popset, you get paid. In real dollars. Not visibility. Not as credit. Not "valuable exposure to our audience."The licensing rates are negotiated on a project-to-project basis. We'll discuss this with you and have an agreement on how much before your film gets put up for voting.
We're not accepting full submissions yet, but we'd love to hear about you & your projects.
