For as long as there's been film, the audience has been handed a menu. A distributor, an algorithm, a boardroom reading projected returns. Someone else always decided what was made, what was bought and what reached us.
On Popset, we vote. Swipe through the independent films waiting to be seen, and the ones the community backs get licensed for everyone to watch. A film gets in because the community wanted it.
That opens a door to work you'd otherwise never find: personal projects, festival films that quietly disappeared, documentaries that never got a home.
Popset is also not-for-profit, and that's the part that makes this possible. With no returns to chase, the only thing to care about is what the community wants to watch.
